Novus announces latest Yorkshire contract win

Leading maintenance and compliance contractor Novus Property Solutions has continued its successful streak in Yorkshire, with the company recently awarded a significant contract with Sheffield City Council valued at £11m.

The planned maintenance contract will see Novus carry out full refurbishment works on Sheffield City Council’s property portfolio over a 14-month period, with the option to extend for a further three years. Over the total contract length, Novus will carry out planned refurbishment works across 3,000 properties within the Sheffield district.

Works will include new kitchens and bathrooms with full electrical upgrades, the installation of smoke alarms, plastering and painting, as well as upgraded windows, doors and heating systems.

This latest contract win follows Novus’ record work-winning year in 2021, which included major maintenance contract wins in Leeds, Hull and Harrogate.

Family-owned Novus has historically adopted a people-centric approach to business, with social value and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) a key aspect of all tenders. The contractor will carry out 50 social value and CSR initiatives each year throughout the duration of this contract with Sheffield City Council, beginning with a recent donation of £1,000 to local homeless charity, The Archer Project.

The Archer Project supports Sheffield’s homeless community through providing several services, including food provision, health and wellbeing programmes, and outreach. As well as the donation, three Novus colleagues visited the Project, volunteering to serve breakfast to service users — cementing the contractor’s commitment to giving back to the community.

Commenting on its new partnership with Sheffield City Council, Novus Property Solutions’ Head of Operations Charlie Cooley said: “We’re proud to have secured this contract with Sheffield City Council — our fourth in the Yorkshire region — and look forward to building a positive working relationship as we carry out extensive refurbishment works across its property portfolio. This is the latest contract win to support our five-year growth strategy, which aims to secure high value, long term partnerships.

“However, even as we implement this ambitious growth strategy, it’s vital that we continue to put our clients and end-users first and to give back to the communities in which we work. We know that Sheffield City Council champions this vision, and we’re delighted to work together to support both residents and the local community through extensive social value commitments.”
