A multi-million-pound window and door replacement programme in the southside of Glasgow is now underway on behalf of Linthouse Housing Association.
The CCG Group will install 1800 windows and 692 flat entrance door sets for residences across the Linthouse area.
The two-lot contract is seen as a significant step forward to future-proofing the association’s tenemental housing stock and was green-lit thanks to £3.7m grant funding support from the Scottish Government.
The new, energy-efficient windows and fire-rated doors have been specified to improve energy performance as well as tenants’ security and safety. A mix of double and triple-glazed, vertical sliding sash windows from Victorian Sliders have been specified for the contract.
The window style is in-keeping with the surrounding area’s built heritage, but rather than using timber, the principal material is PVCu, a highly durable form of thermoplastic that is not prone to weathering or rot. With a longer lifespan than their timber counterparts, the PVCu windows will help to lower the association’s long-term maintenance requirements whilst preparing the housing stock for the next stage of meeting Scotland’s Net Zero targets.
The new FD30 flat entrance door sets are supplied by CCG. Fabricated using solid timber, the door leaf and frame are assembled entirely at CCG’s HQ in Cambuslang before being installed by their own, in-house team of tradespeople. Each door is fully BM Trada and Q Mark certified and will offer a 30-minute fire performance rating.
Irene McFarlane, Linthouse Housing Association CEO, said:
“As CEO at Linthouse Housing Association, I am truly delighted that we have been chosen to partner with the Scottish Government in the delivery of the Social Housing Net Zero Heat Fund, securing £3.7 million in grant funding.
“This funding has enabled us to develop and roll out a major programme that will make a real difference to our tenants’ lives. Not only will it help reduce their energy costs, but it will also support our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint through the installation of timber flat entrance doors and high-performing triple/double glazed windows.
“By the end of 2025, every Linthouse-owned Pre-1919 tenement flat will have received new energy-efficient windows and front doors, improving both energy efficiency and thermal comfort for our tenants within their homes.”
