Homes By Esh awarded joint venture contract to develop residential framework by Darlington Borough Council

Darlington Borough Council awards new residential framework agreement for Darlington to developer Homes by Esh following a competitive tender process.

The joint venture will bring new homes to Darlington as part of the residential framework agreement by the council to create residential developments at agreed sites across the borough.

Homes by Esh is the residential development arm of Esh Group, one of the leading construction companies in the North of England. The joint venture contract brings on board an experienced residential developer to deliver on the plans to build much-needed new homes at development sites throughout Darlington.

Cllr Bill Dixon, Leader of Darlington Borough Council (pictured above on the left), commented: “This new joint venture follows the success of our existing partnership with Esh that has seen the development of the former Eastbourne School site, now known as Scholars Park, where 60 homes are being built.

“Both parties invest 50% in delivery of the scheme in return for 50% profit/risk share and the scheme boasts a mix of different house types including bungalows, with 12 plots now at reservation, exchange or completion stage.

“We were keen to build on this success by seeking a long-term partner through a tendering process, which was won by Esh. This will now enable us to build more homes as well as raise additional income for the council in terms of profit share, extra Council Tax and New Homes Bonus as well as delivering high quality new homes for residents.”

The joint venture contract was awarded following a competitive tender process initiated by Darlington Borough Council. As the successful bidder, Homes by Esh will now work closely with members of the council to progress key sites for residential development.

Phil Brown, Managing Director of Homes by Esh, (pictured above on the right) said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract by Darlington Borough Council to develop its residential framework agreement and bring much-needed new homes to the people of Darlington.

“This is a positive step forward for current and future residents as we form a close working relationship with the Council to deliver on its extensive plans for the local area. We are still at a relatively early stage in the process and anticipate that there will be more detailed information regarding sites and locations for planned new residential developments to announce in the coming months as our plans progress.”
