Plus Dane Housing has won an industry award for its commitment to building and maintaining sustainable homes.
The organisation’s asset management team were named ‘best in class’ in the ‘most improved’ category of the SHIFT Awards 2016, for their commitment to environmental improvement across its property portfolio.
The awards, hosted by comedian Marcus Brigstocke, took place last week in London.
The SHIFT Awards are the UK’s sustainability awards for the housing sector, recognising the achievements of organisations leading in energy efficiency, lean and sustainable business and the delivery of affordable homes.
In its 2016 annual SHIFT assessment, Plus Dane achieved silver status, an improvement on bronze the year before. The accreditation has been gained well in advance of the four year target outlined in Plus Dane’s corporate planning.
Claire Griffiths, executive director of property at Plus Dane Housing, said: “To be recognised at the SHIFT Awards is a brilliant achievement that demonstrates our ongoing commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement. We are delighted with the award and our aim now is to work with SHIFT to hopefully achieve gold status in future.”
Bevan Jones, managing director of Sustainable Homes, said: “These awards clearly demonstrate that sustainability is not dead and that it has a major role in creating better homes and businesses whilst enhancing people’s lives. What we must do now is harness the energy and ideas from this event to improve policy and practice within housing and sustainability.”
