Housing provider Orbit has announced the launch of a new environmental sustainability qualification for its colleagues — the first in-house training of its kind in the social housing sector.
The course, Environmental Sustainability Skills for Managers, will provide learners with a broad understanding of environmental sustainability principles and the skills needed to implement positive environmental change as individuals, in their teams and the wider organisation.
Delivered in-house by Orbit’s environmental sustainability team, this internationally-recognised qualification, developed by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), will be tailored for Orbit and the social housing sector and will provide learners with a working knowledge of Orbit’s environmental management system.
David March (pictured above), Head of Environmental Sustainability at Orbit, commented: “I am extremely proud that we have launched this qualification for our colleagues, which demonstrates Orbit’s commitment to sustainability and protecting the environment. We all have a role to play in reducing our carbon footprint, and by giving our colleagues the skills and knowledge to enable them to make more sustainable decisions in their day-to-day roles.
“As a business, we don’t want to just reach net zero carbon. Instead, we want to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation in order to enhance the way in which we work and deliver better places and spaces for communities to thrive that actively enhance our environment.”
