Lovell Later Living has officially broken ground on a new multi-million development for 60 Extra Care homes on Willis Road in Gosport, Hampshire.
The exciting new scheme is being funded by Places for People Living Plus in partnership with Hampshire County Council as part of the council’s proposed £45m investment programme of Extra Care provision across Hampshire.
Supported by Gosport Borough Council, the Addenbrooke development underlines the County Council and its partner’s commitment to meeting the needs of local people as they get older.
The Extra Care scheme, designed by Re-Format Architecture and Design, will transform the Willis Road site into one and two-bedroom apartments for the over 55s. This will also include community facilities providing modern, independent living with access to 24-hour on-site care and support, if and when required. These apartments will be available as affordable housing through Places for People Living Plus, a specialist registered provider, who will own and operate the completed development.

It is vital we create the right environment for people to live well and age well, by creating places which provide age appropriate housing with access to vital services and facilities supporting people to remain in their own home.”
Councillor Liz Fairhurst, Executive Lead Member for Adult Services and Public Health for Hampshire County Council said: “I am delighted that construction work is now underway at what will be a fantastic community asset for older people in Gosport. The County Council is committed to working with partners to deliver affordable housing for older people across Hampshire. Our ambitious investment programme for Extra Care is really starting to bear fruit with our Romsey scheme due to open this year, and further projects in the pipeline in Winchester, New Milton, Aldershot and Petersfield.”

The service is due for completion in Spring 2023 with Morgan Sindall Construction serving as the contractor and Poole Dick operating as Employers Agent.
