Independent housing association accepts handover

An independent housing association has accepted the handover of eight apartments for affordable rent for local people.

The new homes at Broadleaf Place in Caterham, will be managed by Mount Green Housing Association and have been delivered as part of a larger 42-home development from Shanly Homes.

Working in partnership with Tandridge District Council, all eight homes will be allocated through Tandridge’s housing register.

In addition to providing residents with electric vehicle (EV) charging points, the apartments have been designed to reduce the demand for energy through a range of measures. This includes natural ventilation, high levels of insulation, airtightness, the integration of high thermal density materials and energy-efficient light fittings. Solar panels have also been installed to help supply electricity to the communal areas and reduce overall energy costs.

Mark Orosz, Development Manager at Mount Green, said: “We’re always looking for new opportunities to deliver affordable homes in the areas we already operate in to maintain the most efficient and responsive housing management and maintenance services for residents.

“We’re proud to provide these eight much-needed flats from Shanly Homes at Broadleaf Place and look forward to welcoming our new residents in the coming weeks.”

Gary Perry, Managing Director at Shanly Homes (Southern) commented: “We are very proud of our development at Broadleaf Place and delighted that we have been able to work with Tandridge District Council and Mount Green to provide eight homes for affordable rent. We look forward to welcoming the new residents very soon.”

Tandridge District Council’s Chairman of the Housing Committee, Councillor Jeremy Pursehouse, said: “We are delighted eight, new, affordable rented flats will soon become homes for families on the Council housing register.

Mount Green already has properties in the district and it’s great to see them working towards providing even more affordable housing locally.”
