believe housing has become a sponsor of Climate Action North to help it continue tackling the climate and biodiversity crises.
The North East housing association’s ‘gold sponsorship’ of the organisation begins today (Monday, 22nd April) to mark Earth Day 2024 — a global event which aims to highlight the importance of protecting the environment.
It aligns with believe housing’s ongoing commitment to protect the planet, which includes improving the energy efficiency of customers’ homes and reducing the carbon footprint of its own business activities.
Climate Action North’s work, which includes rewilding parks, cleaning beaches and rivers, litter picking and community education programmes, is predominantly funded by corporate sponsorships from the business community. The money supports climate action projects across the North of England and supporters get to raise awareness of their work and volunteer with nature projects.
Andrea Baxter, Environmental Manager at believe housing, said: “Sustainability, social value and impact are all important to believe housing.
“We are committed to doing the right thing for our colleagues, for our customers, for our business and that includes protecting the planet; that’s why we’ve signed up to be part of Climate Action North’s extensive programme of climate action.
“We are looking forward to getting involved in the activities over the next 12 months and making a meaningful difference and tackling the climate change.”
Climate Action North’s CEO, Sharon Lashley, commented: “As a business heavily focused on supporting local communities, believe housing’s dedication to making a better planet for all and its social value principles fully align with our mission to make a positive social impact and we are thrilled to have them on board with us.
“We are keen to see as many businesses as possible taking action with us to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises.
“The sponsorship from believe housing will enable us to deliver real action on the ground as well as providing quality opportunities for believe housing volunteers to take part in the activities we have planned.”
