With their ongoing commitment to supporting local communities around their projects, Higgins and A2Dominion have donated laptops and tablets to the children of St Mark’s Primary School in Hanwell, West London.
The donation has meant that the school can provide the opportunity to learn at home, both at school and in case they are forced to self-isolate for any period. It will also help them to develop IT skills for the future. Chrome Books have been purchased for the younger children to use whilst a higher spec laptop is available for the older year groups.
Sophie Liardet, Headteacher at St Mark’s Primary School said, “Pupils and staff are very grateful for the donation to enable us to purchase devices needed to support our pupils learning remotely and in school. Chromebooks really make a real difference to the teaching and learning experience of our staff and children.
“The devices make a difference because children can take part in live lessons, see their teacher and their friends on screen, and keep up with their work. At a time when there is so much financial pressure on budgets for families and schools it is great that through this community connection we can be supported to provide essential items for our children. Thank you from us all at St Mark’s Primary School.”
Amy Ross, Head of Social Value at Higgins Partnerships comments, “We are really pleased to be able to support the children of St Mark’s Primary School through the donation of IT equipment. Although children have now returned to the classroom, there is still a real need for pupils to have access to computers and tablets, in order to further develop their learning and we hope the children get some real benefit from them.”
Danny Lynch, Director of Land and Development, A2Dominion said: “Supporting the communities in which we work is a vital part of what we do, so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to help the pupils of St Mark’s in this way. The past year has showed that we all need to be able to work from home at any time and donating these devices will make a real difference to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to them.”
A2Dominion and Higgins are developing Boston Road in Hanwell, through a joint venture partnership, to deliver 333 high quality studio, one, two and three bedroom homes. 216 of the homes will private sale while 117 will be for affordable tenure.
The project will also enhance the existing residential area by providing shops, cafés and restaurants as part of the new village square situated just an eight minute walk from the Elizabeth’s Line’s Hanwell Station.
The properties have been designed in three blocks, featuring contemporary soft brickwork, which will contrast against the dark frames of the shop frontages and successfully complete the ‘village square’ design.
Generous amenity spaces such as garden terraces, play space for children and rooftop gardens will be incorporated throughout the scheme and allow residents to view the entire development as their home, rather than just their apartments.
The project has been designed by Assael Architects and the delivery architect is Fourpoint Architects.
