The Hill Group and Gravesham Borough Council have announced a strategic joint venture partnership to bring long-term investment and create new homes and amenities for the local community.
The Gravesham Community Investment Partnership will support the council in achieving its new-build programme to deliver hundreds of affordable homes across the borough. Schemes will be created through the regeneration of brownfield land and new suburban housing and estate regeneration, with homes available through a range of tenures, including much needed council housing for those on the council’s Housing Register.
The partnership will look to unlock the great potential that Gravesham holds as a desirable destination to live. The historic borough is a scenic coastal location commutable to London St Pancras in less than 25 minutes thanks to HS1 station at Gravesend and boasts a range of excellent high-achieving grammar schools.
Andy Hill, Group Chief Executive at The Hill Group commented: “By combining expertise in regeneration and residential development with Gravesham Borough Council’s ambition to unlock the land potential in the local area, we are excited to be working with our new partner to deliver much-needed affordable homes and amenities for the community. The new partnership underlines Hill’s reputation as being a partner of choice for local authorities seeking to deliver high quality, sustainable new homes and placemaking.”
Cllr John Burden, Leader of Gravesham Borough Council, said: “The Gravesham Community Investment Partnership will see long-term investment to benefit our local community. The partnership will create much-needed affordable new homes and amenities whilst creating new employment and training opportunities and adding social and environmental value.
“It will attract investment to the area, taking advantage of the exceptional opportunities that Gravesham has to offer, including the local geography, town centre connectivity and riverside living.”
Hill was also identified as the ideal partner for Gravesham Borough Council due to the company’s commitment to reaching net zero carbon in business operations and net zero operational carbon in homes by 2030. This perfectly aligns with the council’s target to be net zero by 2030. Supporting the delivery of the Council’s housing objectives, the partnership will also provide training and employment opportunities for the local community and deliver added social value for the wider neighbourhood of Gravesham.
With an impressive track record of helping local authorities unlock the value of their land, Hill has delivered large-scale regeneration projects through several successful strategic partnerships. These include the Cambridge Investment Partnership, which has delivered hundreds of new council and market sale homes along with commercial and community facilities, and the Rushmore Development Partnership which is delivering complex town centre regenerations in both Aldershot and Farnborough, Surrey.
