Schoolchildren across Lincolnshire inspired by Construction Week 2019, which showcases careers in architecture, building, quantity surveying and more.
Pupils from across the county attended the Lincolnshire Showground in West Lindsey for Construction Week 2019, to get an insight into the construction industry from the best in the business.
West Lindsey Building Control is one of many proud sponsors of the event at the Lincolnshire Showground in West Lindsey, which runs until the 3rd October.
This interactive event — organised by The Lincoln Group Training Association (LGTA) — is supported by local construction companies, The Education Business Partnership (The EBP), Lincoln College and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and aims to raise awareness and interest in the diversity of careers available within the Construction Industry.
A number of workshops with ‘hands-on’ and fun activities were available for students to get a good idea of what a career in construction entails.
Phillip Westmorland, Building Control Team Manager at the Council said: “We are honoured to be once again sponsoring Construction Week at the Lincolnshire Showground. Sharing our knowledge and passion for construction with young people is the key to inspiring the industry experts of the future, and my team have been thrilled to do this today.”
Pupils from a number of schools took part in 27 hands-on construction related activities, which helped them to get a good idea of what a career in construction entails.
Cllr Angela White, Member Champion for Young People and Skills at West Lindsey, said: “Construction Week is a brilliant opportunity for the young people of West Lindsey, and the wider Lincolnshire area, to learn new skills and benefit from the knowledge of industry experts. I am delighted to hear that West Lindsey District Council through their Building Control team are sponsoring the week — I’m sure the young people who attend will leave with new knowledge and excitement for the construction industry.”
