Manchester-based property developer Investar Property Group has celebrated the completion of its £6m affordable housing scheme in Salford with the handover of 48 apartments.
Work began on Melody Gardens – an affordable housing development of 58 homes for Places for People – in August 2018. Salford-based contractor, Watson Homes, finished construction work on the scheme late November 2019, two months ahead of schedule.
Melody Gardens comprises nine three- and four-bedroom two-storey houses, one two-bedroom bungalow and 48 apartments.
All 58 homes are being allocated by Places for People via the Local Authorities Choice Based Lettings system. Situated on the corner of Liverpool Street and Weaste Lane, the land was once home to All Souls Roman Catholic Church before its demolition in 2011.
The houses have a rear private garden, while landscaped areas have been created for those living in apartments.
Michael Dong, Chief Executive Officer of Investar Property Group, said: “Melody Gardens is a new community that meet the needs of Salford families who require high quality, social housing. We’d like to thank all of our project partners for helping us to deliver this much-needed development with time to spare.”
Mike Watson, Director of Watson Homes, said: “Our team has worked hard on every aspect of this build programme to ensure that Melody Gardens would be ready for Places for People and their customers well ahead of schedule. We’re thrilled with the end result.”
