Affordable housing provider, Grand Union Housing Group, is looking to make savings of over £2m by bringing all repairs in-house.
The Milton Keynes based housing association, which operates across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Hertfordshire, has previously worked with a number of contractors to provide responsive and voids repairs, but is now looking to insource them all.
Doug Grace, Director of Property Services at Grand Union, said: “Delivering a great customer experience is our number one priority at Grand Union and these changes will mean that we can offer a consistent repairs service for our customers no matter where they live.
“Bringing all of our repairs in house will make it much simpler for our customers, and will also deliver us significant savings, reducing our maintenance costs by almost 13% annually, which comes to £2.1m over five years.”
The repairs team expansion is all part of a bigger change management programme that Grand Union is currently implementing that’s ensuring the organisation is fit for future challenges and will ensure it’s a modern, connected, business that has the customer experience at the heart of everything it does.
In the Summer the housing association set out a number of ambitious goals in its new corporate plan, called ‘Further together’, which includes building 1,900 new homes.
