Polyflor flooring helps create modern social housing apartments in Newport

Luxury vinyl sheet flooring and Polysafe safety flooring from Polyflor was recently installed throughout apartments on the Belle View social housing development, Stow Park Avenue, Newport.

Approximately 1,400m² of Designatex PUR sheet vinyl flooring, Polysafe Wood fx PUR and Polysafe Arena PUR safety flooring was installed during the interior fit out phase by Evabuild Interiors, under main contractor Willis Construction. The site was a former care home which has now been converted into 13 modern apartments for housing association Pobl Group.

The Platinum Oak grey wood effect design from Polyflor’s Designatex collection of luxury vinyl sheet flooring for residential interiors was used throughout bedroom, living room and kitchen areas in each apartment.

The Designatex vinyl flooring range includes 12 wood effect and six stone effect designs to complement both traditional and modern interiors. Available in two, three and four metre widths, it has a 3.0mm gauge, 0.3mm wear layer, an innovative textile backing for ease of installation and offers a 17dB impact sound reduction. The range can also be loose laid in most homes, eliminating the need for adhesive and allowing for quicker installations.

Polysafe Arena safety flooring in the grey textile effect Steelwool design was chosen to provide sustainable wet slip resistance in the apartment bathrooms. High clarity timber effect Polysafe Wood fx safety flooring in the Roasted Limed Oak design was also used in communal areas including staircases at the Belle View development.

Both the Polysafe Wood fx and Polysafe Arena collections feature in-built sustainable wet slip resistance provided by virtually invisible aggregates through the performance layer to ensure underfoot safety without compromising the decorative look of the floor. Designed for use in both commercial and residential interiors, these products are fully HSE Compliant and classified as low slip potential, achieving 36 + on the Pendulum Wet Test and a surface roughness of 20 microns +, fully conforming to the European Safety Flooring Standard EN 13845.

All three UK manufactured Polyflor flooring ranges used on this project feature a PUR polyurethane reinforcement which helps prevent stains and scuff marks allows for a simple polish-free cleaning regime. These products are also 100% recyclable via the Recofloor vinyl take back scheme and also achieve Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification for low VOC emissions, an internationally recognised indoor air quality standard.
