Norbord have just released a new version of CaberFloor 5. The chipboard flooring product is now available with a permanently-bonded acoustic layer on the underside to reduce both airborne and impact noise.
Designed primarily for domestic floor-laying applications including new-build and as an overlay for existing floor decks, the new CaberAcoustic board is can also be used for non-domestic applications such as offices, schools and hospitals. It comprises either 18 or 22mm CaberFloor tongue-and-grooved P5 particleboard panels with a 10mm sound-absorbing layer bonded to the underside.
This specially-designed layer, made in the UK from recycled felt, reduces impact noise transmission by up to 19dB. It also helps reduce airborne noise when used as part of the appropriate flooring system. The board’s tongue-and-grooved edge profile gives a tight, easily-fitting joint and maximum strength when fixed using Norbord’s CaberFix D3 adhesive.
CaberAcoustic gives stronger sound attenuating performance when installed with a perimeter flanking strip (available in 50m rolls) to reduce sound transference around the edge of the floor deck. All Norbord products are FSC-certified.
