Fire-resistant security entrance doorsets are now available from UK manufacturer Enfield Speciality Doors. The PAS24 FD30 doors are certified for fire and security and are ideal for internal entrance door specifications for apartments.
Enfield’s new entrance doors meet BS 476 for fire resistance and smoke control, as well as PAS24 for enhanced security, which is required for the police-backed Secured by Design certification. Single doorsets are available with up to 33 dB acoustic performance.
The high-security 30-minute fire doors are available in a range of finishes suitable for apartment refurb and new-build projects for both social housing or private landlords. The doors incorporate a severe-duty core with a hardwood frame and a range of high-quality ironmongery. Options include a door viewer for extra security, anti-snap letterplates and cowls, and a choice of closers. A Fortress 3* thumbturn cylinder with hardened pins for anti-drill, anti-pick and anti-bump resistance offers ultimate peace of mind.
Enfield Speciality Doors has two factories based just outside of London and supplies contractors nationwide. Its fire doors comfortably passed tests by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) in 2018, when it assessed doors from 25 nationwide manufacturers for their effectiveness following the Grenfell fire.
Enfield’s door resisted the fire in testing for 35 minutes facing into the furnace and 51 minutes facing away. CEO Nigel Sill commented: “It’s our policy to ‘over-engineer’ our doors, so they work in real world conditions, allowing occupants to evacuate safely, and the fire service time to access the building, fight the fire, and get out. Every minute counts in a fire, so we intentionally include a safety margin on all our fire doors. Our new PAS24 FD30 door is no exception.”
