Honeywell’s smart thermostats to boost social housing energy efficiency

Honeywell’s new range of T4 programmable thermostats are designed to deliver comfort with minimal user-interaction for the occupant and improve energy efficiency for the property owner.

The T4 includes intelligent features designed to ensure both landlords and users automatically get the full benefit of inbuilt energy efficiency measures, and be able to simply control their comfort levels. Other advantages include:

  • Automated modulation control over the boiler which improves energy efficiency
  • Optimum stop, start and delayed stop features which learn how the room is heated, reducing user effort and improving heating efficiency
  • A clear and simple screen interface which offers easy and optimal heating adjustment

The programmable thermostat range is designed with social housing providers in mind, with one of the models available in a battery-less, wired format, complete with lockable screen to prevent unwanted tampering from residents.

Andy Mansfield, marketing communications manager at Honeywell, commented: “We firmly believe that energy efficiency should be a given, no matter what the dwelling or who the occupant is. We’ve launched the T4 to provide just this — automatic smart energy saving suited to both the occupant and property owner. It’s time we changed the perception that heating controls are complicated to use, and make them more accessible to the installer, property owner and user.”

It is designed to be easily installed — wire, power up and test and finally, configure — before it’s ready to use. A new wireless receiver box, redesigned with a flip-up wiring bar for easy installation also makes the wiring process more accessible than ever before.

Compatible with any boiler, the T4 is easy to use and install and designed to simplify home temperature scheduling. The thermostat is available in three models: the T4 standard, wired and battery-less model, ideal for retrofit solutions; T4R wireless version with OpenTherm, automatic boiler control via the receiver box offering an easy switch over from an existing wireless receiver box; and the T4M, wired modulating version with on-screen OpenTherm boiler information for additional user control. All models feature seven day 5/2 day and single day programming with a host of features. The T4 is suitable for domestic and light commercial applications.
