Crown Trade is strengthening its commitment to creating a more sustainable built environment with the launch of an innovative new air purifying paint, that’s ultra-low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Crown Trade Clean Air is the latest edition to the paint manufacturer’s flagship Clean Extreme range. It is BREEAM and LEED certified and offers great quality and performance whilst minimising the impact on the environment.
The formula contains advanced air purifying technology that removes up to 45% of formaldehyde from the air, helping to improve indoor air quality from the very first coat.
Being exposed to high levels of formaldehyde can cause health implications including skin rashes, shortness of breath, wheezing and changes in lung function. And with all new properties in the UK being built to higher insulation specifications in a bid to save energy — less air is able to move in and out of the buildings, which can cause formaldehydes to stay in the property for longer.
Crown Trade Clean Air will absorb the chemicals and reduce the amount of formaldehyde present in the air, leading to an improved indoor air quality for occupants.
The paint has been expertly developed by Crown’s in-house technical team and specialist chemists; and is also 99% free of VOCs.
VOCs are chemicals used in the production of a wide range of materials, including building materials like paint and varnishes, as well as aerosol sprays and cleaning products. The chemicals vaporise and are emitted into the air, and as well as contributing to air pollution they can have negative health impacts, in some cases even causing damage to the liver, kidneys, or central nervous system.
Crown Trade Clean Air also contains Crown’s breatheasy technology, which ensures the paint is 99% solvent free, and asthma and allergy friendly.
As part of the highly rated Clean Extreme range, Clean Air is highly durable, with a class 1 scrub rating — meaning it looks new for longer, helping to extend maintenance cycles as spaces will need to be redecorated less often.
