A toilet block using renewable energy set to help sites achieve net zero

Advanté, the UK-based manufacturer of the Oasis ‘instant start’ self-contained welfare units, has launched an innovative new Vision Solar toilet block, as part of its commitment to helping sites to achieve net zero.

This latest addition to the Oasis range of welfare units, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is an instant start toilet block with 2 + 1 cubicles that features innovative solar hybrid technology. Vision Solar is completely self-contained and provides male and female facilities for up to 60 people on site.

The new Vision Solar is powered by Oasis Solar Hybrid Technology, which delivers up to 100% renewable energy to power the electrical loads in the unit silently, including lighting, heating, hot water and hand dryers.

Stan Chapman, Advante’s R&D Director, said: “Vision Solar is perfect for any construction site that wants to increase its use of renewable solar energy and move towards net zero. It means sites can reduce their carbon footprint significantly — and it’s not just for summer, as solar gain can be achieved all year round. We are looking forward to helping even more contractors to meet their site sustainability requirements with this new addition to the range.”

With up to 100% of electricity being delivered from renewable sources, the unit is said to give impressive carbon savings and air quality is enhanced due to minimal reliance on a generator.

The Vision Solar units are suitable for use across all types of sites UK wide, from remote locations with no mains facilities to urban areas with low noise and emission reduction requirements.

In addition, Vision Solar is fully HSE (Health & Safety Executive) compliant and provides hot and cold running water and separate male and female facilities in a high quality, comfortable environment. The innovative new unit is designed to cater for large numbers of staff and comes with an intelligent telemetry system, meaning it can be monitored remotely to ensure trouble-free welfare operation.

Advanté pioneered the design and production of its Oasis welfare units for main contractors after health and safety requirements, introduced in 1998, meant that all construction sites had to provide hot and cold running water before work could start. The Oasis units provide a complete solution that is ready to use on day one, before services are installed on site.
