Work begins on Liverpool social housing regeneration scheme

National regeneration housebuilder Lovell Partnerships has started work at a new development site in Liverpool, to deliver its first mixed-tenure affordable scheme with Cobalt Housing.

Located on Stonedale Crescent in Croxteth, the development will deliver 88 two-, three- and four-bed homes for affordable rent, rent to buy and shared ownership and forms part of a wider regeneration plan for the area.

Marked as one of Liverpool City Council’s mayoral priority development zones, which focuses on improving social and economic conditions, the scheme will provide high-quality, affordable homes to support Liverpool’s ambitious plans.

The Lovell team completed the full design and planning work on the scheme, with grant funding secured through the Homes England Affordable Homes Programme (AHP) and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Brownfield Land Fund.

Tahreen Shad, Regional Partnerships Director at Lovell, said: “Our regeneration expertise and local knowledge, having worked in Merseyside for the last 20 years, has enabled us to successfully guide Cobalt Housing through its first steps into a mixed-tenure energy-efficient scheme. We have been working very closely with its team for the past two years, successfully steering them through the design and planning processes.

“Liverpool is an important location to us, and we’re very proud to be investing in and delivering a number of schemes across the city including Denford Road, which is backed by Liverpool City Council — demonstrating our long-term commitment to Merseyside.

“As we begin our work on the Croxteth site we will also be getting further embedded in the local community through our social value programme by engaging with nearby schools and groups, as well as employing and training young people through our apprenticeship scheme to deliver lasting outcomes.”

Cobalt Housing is a registered housing association that manages and maintains more than 6,000 affordable homes across North Liverpool. The organisation prides itself on providing quality housing and supporting local communities where people are proud to live.

Claire Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of Cobalt Housing, commented: “We are delighted to be working with our trusted partner Lovell to bring 88 brand new affordable homes to Croxteth.

“It signals the continuation of our £300m investment in our neighbourhoods over the next 10 years, in existing and new homes for rent and sale, which we have set out in our new Corporate Plan. This development will be a catalyst for increased confidence and aspiration in the Stonebridge area of Liverpool, as we continue to expand our partnerships and investment, working closely with our customers and the wider community.”
