The best way to minimise carbon emissions is, where possible, to repurpose buildings and the materials they are built from. BUILDOFFSITE and CIRIA are hosting a webinar on Tuesday 14th May to explore how this technique can be used to retain the embodied carbon and reduce the carbon emitted as a consequence of extracting, processing, manufacturing, and transporting construction products for new developments.
Attendees will have the opportunity to improve their knowledge and understanding of the circular economy, learn about good practice case studies where circular economy principles have been implemented by reusing or substituting with alternative materials, and how to embed circularity when commissioning and decommissioning assets to reduce waste. In addition you will gain insight into RECONMATIC — a project to develop automated solutions for sustainable and circular construction and demolition waste management and earn valuable CPD.
Webinar speakers include: Dr Kat Ibbotson, Chair of CIRIA’s Driving Net Zero Carbon Community of Practice and Director Transformation Advisory at WSP; Karl Fuller, National Sustainability Performance Advisor at the Environment Agency and Dr Juan Ferriz-Papi, Lecturer in Building Surveying, at the University of Salford.
