Wates has been appointed to deliver a £4.3m Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave 2.1 contract on behalf of The Hyde Group, further strengthening its position as a leader in social housing retrofit.
Wates is set to retrofit 198 properties over the course of the project with work including loft and cavity wall insulation, solar PV panels, LED lighting, air source heat pumps and mechanical extract ventilation.
The Hyde Group contract forms part of Wates’ appointment to over £100m of SHDF Wave 2.1 contracts on behalf of 17 social landlords and builds on the Group’s work in social housing retrofit, totalling 42 projects valued collectively at nearly £200m.
All SHDF Wave 2.1 contracts will see Wates take a fabric-first approach to improve property efficiency in line with Government targets for all social housing to achieve Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C by 2030.
David Morgan, Executive Managing Director of Wates Property Services, commented: “We’re committed to moving our social landlord customers forward toward their net zero targets, carrying out essential retrofit works that will improve home efficiency and help to combat fuel poverty. Our team has worked incredibly hard over the last few years to build our supply chain and secure the future of social housing retrofit; it’s our responsibility as leaders in the industry to continue to support our customers through to project completion to improve living conditions and energy efficiency measures for residents.”
