Warwick District Council approves plans for 450-home L&Q development

Warwick is set to receive a thriving new residential and community development after council bosses signed off on plans, submitted by L&Q, for land south of Gallows Hill.

The scheme, which will be known as Beauchamp Park (artist’s impression above), will see 450 quality homes, including at least 40% affordable housing, brought to the 20.9-hectare site south of Gallows Hill and west of Europa Way. Housing association L&Q has a proven track record of creating thoughtful and considerate neighbourhoods. The local community and future residents will also benefit from new public open space, footpaths and cycleways, and children’s play areas.

In January 2016, outline-planning consent was secured which agreed the principle of residential development on the site. Residents were invited to view the proposals in Autumn 2018 and this application sets out the details of what the development will look and feel like.

As a charitable organisation, L&Q recognise that its role goes beyond providing homes and housing services. As part of its commitment to become a long-term partner for Warwick, the housing association is investigating opportunities to invest in the community via its £250m L&Q Foundation and skills academy.

Craig Luttman, Regional Managing Director for the Counties Region at L&Q said: “We are delighted that Warwick District Council has approved our Reserved Matters application for Beauchamp Park. L&Q’s vision is that everyone has a quality home that they can afford, and we look forward to working with local people to create a successful new community.”

Matthew Corbett, Director of L&Q Foundation, added: “The L&Q Foundation has been created specifically to support the local communities in which we develop and operate. In the coming months we will be looking to engage the local community to understand how the L&Q Foundation and our academy can help create opportunities for local people.”

Work is expected to start on the site in Summer 2019, with the first homes built by late Summer 2020 and the entire development completed in Spring 2023.
