Three new affordable developments handed over to Muir

New properties on three different Muir developments have been handed over to the housing association after being completed at the end of November.

Properties near Chester, Sandbach, and in Melton Mowbray were all received by Muir Group Housing Association, providing a mix of homes for affordable rent and shared ownership for new residents and families.

Muir recently announced it is to build up to 75% more new homes each year in a bid to ensure there is adequate affordable housing for people, families and communities. Jo Fallon, Development Consultant at Muir, said: “The properties are another absolutely fabulous addition to Muir’s portfolio and will provide wonderful new homes.

“They form part of ongoing developments which are all scheduled to be completed by April 2018, and Muir is thrilled to be providing these properties to communities requiring the affordable housing we can offer.”

Developed by Stewart Milne Homes, the three shared ownership homes handed over at Fern Hill in Farndon, near Chester, form the third part of the four-phase development taking place there. Four shared ownership homes and five for affordable rent were received earlier in 2017, while another shared ownership home and two for affordable rent are also due for completion on the site before Christmas.

In the Leicestershire town of Melton Mowbray, completion of the third phase of the development saw four homes for affordable rent handed over, adding to seven others recently received by Muir in October 2017. Three properties will also be made available for affordable rent early in 2018 at the Scalford Road site being developed by Persimmon Homes.

Completion of the second phase at Muir’s Winterley Gardens site, near Sandbach, saw three shared ownership homes added to the two received in July 2017. Five homes for affordable rent were also handed to Muir that month, and the Stuart Milne Homes development is also due to give rise to a further five such Muir properties in Spring 2018.
