Thomas Sinden has successfully completed the delivery of 33 new affordable homes for Hightown Housing Association, together with Employers Agent, Calford Seaden.
The project involved converting existing offices into residential apartments, as well as the addition of two new storeys to the building, creating 33 modern one-and-two-bedroom apartments available for affordable rent. The Charter Court building has undergone a remarkable transformation, with the implementation of new brick cladding, revised window positions, and a striking metal cladding system on the top floor and central column.
Thomas Sinden takes immense pride in delivering high-quality, sustainable, and affordable housing solutions to local communities. This project represents another successful collaboration between Thomas Sinden and Hightown Housing Association.
Steve McMahon, Operations Director of Thomas Sinden said: “The project presented various challenges throughout, and we are extremely proud to have worked alongside Hightown Housing Association and Calford Seaden in bringing this transformative development to fruition. Despite the obstacles encountered, the team’s perseverance and dedication resulted in a successful scheme and has provided much needed affordable homes in Hemel Hempstead.”
David Bogle, Chief Executive at Hightown Housing Association, commented: “We are pleased to have worked with Dacorum Borough Council and Thomas Sinden contractors to give this former office block a new lease of life and provide safe and affordable homes for those priced out of renting at market rates.
“I am very grateful to Homes England for their grant funding which has helped us to deliver more affordable housing at a time when the cost of living pressures are acute.”
