Tenants take up new homes at Dundee development

Caledonia Housing Association (CHA) has handed over the keys to all 30 homes to tenants at its Coldside Road development in Dundee.

The £5.4m development, which received £2.6m of Scottish Government funding, was constructed by GMC Ventures. It consists of 30 homes including 18 two, three and four-bedroom houses and 12 one- and two-bedroom flats. Six of the flats have been developed in collaboration with Dundee City Council’s Health and Social Care Partnership (DHSCP) for supported accommodation.

Julie Cosgrove, Chief Executive, Caledonia Housing Association, said: “We are thrilled to have welcomed 30 families to their new high-quality energy efficient homes in Dundee. Our aim is to create communities for our tenants to live in and the Coldside Road development is one of our flagship projects for 2024 and marks Caledonia’s 30th project in the city of Dundee. This is supported by a strong relationship with Dundee City Council and the Scottish Government where we have all worked together to provide much needed social housing in the city.”

Scottish Government’s Housing Minister, Paul McLennan MSP said: “These new homes in Dundee will play a valuable role in boosting the city’s housing supply. The 30 new homes for social rent were delivered with the support of £2.6 million from the Scottish Government’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme. Everyone deserves a warm and safe place to call home and these high-quality, energy efficient properties delivered by Caledonia Housing Association will help to meet the needs of the local community, including people requiring additional support.”

John Gibson, Managing Director, GMC Ventures, said: “We are delighted to work in conjunction with Caledonia Housing Association in fulfilling the Scottish Government’s desire to see a long derelict brownfield site brought back to life with the provision of high-quality social housing in a strategic area of the city.”
