Thermatic Homes are working with housing associations across the UK with SHDF Wave 2 funding.
The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) will upgrade a significant amount of the social housing stock currently below Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C up to that standard.
Low carbon heating can be installed where a fabric first approach is taken, and all new heating systems must reduce bills in isolation compared to the existing system.
- cavity wall insulation
- solid wall insulation (internal or external)
- loft insulation
- window and door replacement
- heating systems and controls
- water efficiency devices and systems
- renewable energy systems such as heat pumps and solar panels
How much funding is available?
The Government has proposed a £3.8bn Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund over a 10-year period, to improve the energy performance of social rented homes.
A £62m fund was announced in 2020 followed by £160m for the first wave of the SHDF in financial year 2021/22 delivering to January 2023.
Eligibility
Local authorities, combined authorities, and registered providers of social housing (including housing associations and ALMOs that are registered providers) can apply to Wave 2 of the SHDF for funding.
The competition window for SHDF Wave 2 funding is likely to open in late August/early September 2022, but Thermatic Homes are helping housing associations to prepare their applications now.
Gary Boon, General Manager of Thermatic Homes stated: “The works that will be carried out through the SHDF Wave 2 funding will make a significant difference to households across the county, helping to make homes more energy efficient at a time when many of us are concerned about rising fuel costs.
“As we all deal with rising energy costs, it will enable housing associations to upgrade their homes, helping to cut fuel bills for their customers and all at no cost to their tenants and the housing association.
“We are proud to be supporting Social Housing providers with their bids for Wave 2 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.”
