Social housing provider Stonewater has been named Legal & General Affordable Homes’ largest Management partner. Stonewater is supporting the organisation in delivering its ambitious development plan of building 3000 homes by 2022, by leading on Legal & General’s housing operations across England.
The not-for-profit organisation is one of 14 housing organisations appointed as management partners to Legal & General. Stonewater is first expected to take over the management of 300 homes across England — in areas like Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Hertfordshire and, Central Bedfordshire — between now and March 2020, with another 700 to follow.
Stonewater is one of the largest providers of social housing in the UK, with a mission to deliver good quality, affordable homes to people who need them most; currently managing over 32,500 homes in England for over 70,000 customers.
The aim of the partnership is to support Legal & General in tackling the housing crisis by increasing the provision of affordable housing and improving overall customer service delivery. Stonewater will take over the management of Legal & General’s affordable homes, giving the company greater capacity to deliver more high-quality social, affordable rental and shared ownership properties across the country.
With an aligned vision, Stonewater and Legal & General are working together to provide much needed homes. In addition to this, the contractual obligations offer certainty of a minimum five-year relationship,
Nicholas Harris, Chief Executive at Stonewater, said: “Stonewater is delighted to be announced as Legal & General’s largest management partner, following an extensive, two-stage tender process. Our colleagues put the customer at the heart of everything they do, and this innovative partnership is a testament to the excellent customer service they deliver.
“At Stonewater, we don’t just build and manage homes, we create communities that our customers are proud to be a part of. We look forward to welcoming these brand-new residents all across England and exploring the opportunities this partnership presents.”
Ben Denton, Managing Director, Legal & General Affordable Homes, commented: “After a rigorous tender process, focusing on the quality and customer service offering of 140 UK-wide housing associations, we have now established an experienced panel of management partners. With residents already moving into our first schemes, this represents another milestone as we continue to pioneer the Institutional Registered Provider model. There is an urgent need to keep innovating in this sector and to provide quality, stable homes for the 1.1 million households on waiting lists in England. We are delighted to be partnering with Stonewater as our largest partner to help tackle this head on.”
