Stakeholders including Marj Cooper, Housing Strategy Manager at Flintshire County Council visited ClwydAlyn’s Northern Gateway development in Deeside last week. The visit was organised to celebrate the successful completion of 100 affordable, energy-efficient, new homes for local families.
Social homes provider, ClwydAlyn invited local stakeholders to take a look around its Northern Gateway development at Garden City in Deeside.
Built by Castle Green Partnerships and developed with Flintshire County Council and Welsh Government; the large site of new properties comprises two-, three- and four-bedroomed homes as well as two-bedroomed bungalows and one- and two-bedroomed apartments.
Local families have been overjoyed to move into the modern, energy-efficient properties, which have been able to save them money on monthly utility bills.
Resident Charlotte Booth said: “I’m feeling overwhelmed, happily overwhelmed to be moving in. I’ll be living here with my son James, who’s three, and this is a new community and a fresh start for everyone.”
Resident Kayleigh Evans said: “My new home is amazing, and I feel genuinely lucky to be moving in. Myself and my daughter, who’s eight were made homeless in January as the rented accommodation we were in had become too expensive. It had leaks in the roof and with everything we’ve never felt like we have had a home until today. My daughter has her own bedroom.”
Brinley Williams, Development Project Manager at ClwydAlyn commented: “We were delighted to welcome everyone to Northern Gateway to see this incredibly special development.
“One hundred homes have been created for residents who needed safe, comfortable and affordable places to live in Flintshire. At the heart of what we do at ClwydAlyn is provision of the kind of homes which allow our residents to make fresh starts and improve their living conditions.
“We’ve heard some moving stories from the new residents in these homes. It’s wonderful to demonstrate to our stakeholders the difference that these homes have made to 100 local families.”
