Real has been appointed by Southern Housing Group on a £15m contract to build 74 affordable and shared ownership homes in West Sussex.
The project in Shoreham-by-Sea will see construction and regeneration specialist Real replace an existing low-rise building with new affordable homes in a low carbon, six-storey development. The Mannings development will include carbon-saving measures such as airsource heat pumps, PV panels and heat recovery ventilation. It will consist of 60 shared ownership and 14 affordable rent homes, with completion due in the summer of 2023.

The Mannings success is latest in a series of new projects for newly established Real across its markets of London, the South East and South West. These include the £10m redevelopment of 46 retirement homes at Hallwood House in Medway, and a £117m, 505-home estate regeneration project with The London Borough of Ealing at High Lane in Hanwell. The contractor and developer has also recently won a place on the £250m South East Consortium framework to build affordable homes and other projects for housing associations and local authorities over the next three years.
