Building products distributor SIG has set up a dedicated service to support social housing providers capitalising on the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.
Regional Sales Manager Caroline Bowler outlined the offer: “As one of the largest distributors of building products into the UK market, SIG can provide comprehensive advice on a huge range of products and systems solutions for upgrading existing properties. Getting all options from one place, rather than having to contact multiple manufacturers offers potentially huge savings in time and complexity for the maintenance teams.
“Our history as a company focuses on insulation and this expertise is hugely relevant for SHDF upgrades. What we find is that in-house maintenance teams may not have the capacity to keep up to date with the most recent advances in materials and methods.”
SIG is now on the Advantage South West Framework as a supplier of insulation. The technical teams within the organisation provide specialist insight into some of the issues associated with the particular property types prevalent in this region. The historic properties around Bath, for example, and the problem- ridden Cornish house types particularly common in the West Country.
“Our value comes from the breadth of expertise available throughout the organisation,” Caroline continued. “Most important is our ability to consider the whole house, from foundation to rooflights, considering multiple options of product combinations. It’s a broad, holistic approach, not limited by having to focus on the solutions available from a single manufacturer.”
The sheer number of options available also means that supply problems can be avoided, helping to ensure that programmes stay on schedule.”
Caroline and her team were put in place to support the roll-out of phase two of the SHDF — and are committed to expansion to meet any future increases in funding.
