Builder and developer, Seddon is building 131 high-specification new homes in Manchester for Cube Great Places, part of Great Places Housing Group.
The £13.5m scheme, designed by architects Nicol Thomas and located on Melland Road in Gorton, will comprise 34 two-bed, 82 three-bed and 15 four-bed houses for sale, private rent and shared ownership.
Formerly a disused running track, the 113,000 sq ft site is being transformed by Seddon and Cube Great Places, the private sector arm of Great Places Housing Group, into a housing development, close to Manchester city centre. Works began in September and a multi-phased handover is expected to reach completion in December 2019.
Ben Townsend, Head of Private Sector Development at Great Places Housing Group, said: “This site will offer 130 high-quality homes for sale, Shared Ownership and private rent, the profits from which will benefit and support Great Places’ wider work in our communities.”
During construction, Seddon will train apprentices onsite and work closely with the community, including health and safety demonstrations at nearby schools and regular activities with local youth clubs.
Duncan Williams, Regional Director at Seddon, said: “This top-of-the-range development showcases the best of our ability in delivering quality new-build properties alongside housing association partners. We’re proud to be able to improve local communities and are confident that the finished scheme will be a thriving addition to the area.”
Seddon previously completed 150 houses over two phases for Great Places Housing Group in Longsight and have a further pipeline of 150 houses in 2018-2019 with the Manchester-based housing group.
