Social housing provider Derby Homes Limited has named Sustainable Building Services (UK) Limited as its number one ranked supplier for external wall insulation services.
The organisation’s Insulation Installations Framework covers a variety of energy efficiency measures and has a potential value of up to £4m over four years. It awarded Sustainable Building Services (SBS) a place under two categories of work: Schedule 1, Lot 3 —External Wall Insulation; and Schedule 2 — External Render Repairs.
Derby Homes scored each contractor on the basis of quality and price to determine the most economically advantageous proposal. For quality — which was measured in terms of an assessment of method statements, social value and a selection questionnaire — SBS received the maximum possible score of 600/600.
In all, five contractors won places on the framework, with SBS ranked first overall. The framework will be used by both Derby Homes and Derby City Council to procure insulation projects. For SBS, the announcement will mean additional work in a region in which it is already very active. In 2017, it achieved a number one ranking on a four-year solid wall insulation framework managed by Efficiency East Midlands, and it recently delivered award-winning energy efficiency schemes for both Nottingham City Homes and Chesterfield Borough Council. (Its work for Chesterfield won it the title of 2018 Project of the Year in EEM’s Building Communities Awards.)
Operating as main contractor, SBS is currently delivering energy efficiency works in the East Midlands, the North West and North Wales, as well as new-build and refurbishment schemes throughout the UK.
Responding to the framework announcement, SBS Commercial Director Gary Lawson said: “We have developed excellent quality control procedures over a number of years, and I’m pleased to see that they are being recognised. On tenders, we are consistently achieving number one rankings for both quality and price, and recent award programmes have made special mention of our 100% record of successful handovers. This, together with the availability of SWIGA-backed guarantees on solid wall installation projects has made SBS the obvious choice for a growing number of social housing providers.”
