Robertson Partnership Homes has completed Phase 1 of The City of Edinburgh Council’s Small Sites Programme, with the final 26 units at Crewe Road Gardens being handed over. In total 263 affordable homes, across seven sites, have been delivered in Phase 1 and were procured through Major Works Scotland part of the Scape National Construction framework.
The Small Sites Programme identified brownfield gap sites in existing residential areas which presented the opportunity to expand existing communities and create high quality housing for social and mid-market rent in well-established neighbourhoods.
The seven sites across the city included Calder Gardens (pictured above), Dumbryden Gardens and Hailesland Place in Wester Hailes, and sites in the north of the city at Clermiston, Crewe Road Gardens, Royston and West Pilton Grove.

“It’s fantastic to see all 263 homes now delivered in all seven communities, and to know that every single new home is giving a family or household in Edinburgh a safe, warm and beautiful place to live. We’re now looking ahead to delivering a further phase at Drumbryden Gardens.
“We know that for too many people in our city, housing is just too expensive. Building new Council houses, social homes and as much affordable housing as we possibly can is an absolute priority.”

Robertson Partnership Homes ensured community involvement across all seven sites, hosting a variety of work experience and apprenticeship opportunities, often meeting or exceeding the key performance indicators set out at the beginning of the programme. Robertson Timber Engineering provided the timber frames for the projects whilst Robertson Specialist Division undertook the concrete roof tiling.
Work is due to commence Phase 2 at Dumbryden Gardens, which will see Robertson Partnership Homes deliver an additional 49 units comprising apartments and 2 storey houses, further assisting The City of Edinburgh Council to meet its 10,000-unit housing target.
