Property services firm lends a helping hand to Wrexham hospice with annual Christmas tree collection

Property services firm Liberty is helping Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham this Christmas to raise vital funds to help the charity care for patients.

For the third year running, Liberty staff will be volunteering their time in January to collect Christmas trees from across the community ready for recycling, as a way of raising money for Nightingale House.

Last year, the initiative organised by Nightingale House Hospice saw volunteers from Merseyside-based Liberty as well as other local businesses collecting close to 1,500 trees and raising over £15,000. This year, Nightingale House Hospice is aiming to go even bigger, with a fundraising target of £17,000.

Ninety percent of the proceeds will fund patient care and family support services at Nightingale House Hospice, which provides specialist palliative care services for those with life-limiting illnesses free-of-charge. The remaining 10% will be donated to the local Scouts Association, who are spreading the word about the Christmas tree collection by distributing leaflets in the community.

Bryan Tennant, Regional Director at Liberty said: “We are so pleased to be able to support Nightingale House for a third year, helping to raise vital funds for this important charity while doing our part to ensure that Christmas trees are properly recycled.

“We have to give special thanks to our Liberty volunteers who go out in all weathers to collect the Christmas trees. The amount raised last year is a testament to the power of working together to make a difference in our local communities. We can’t wait to see how much is raised this year.”

Chloe Deacon, Community Fundraiser at Nightingale House Hospice, commented: “This is the third year Liberty has supported Nightingale House and we are so, so grateful for their generosity and that of the entire community.

“This event brings in vital funds which go straight towards our amazing patients and their families. Nightingale House is such a wonderful place filled with love, joy and care, and none of that would be possible without people like the Liberty team giving their time and energy.

“So if you see these fantastic volunteers out and about on collection day, please make sure to give them a smile and a wave. Without them, this fundraiser simply would not be possible.”

There is no set donation amount; supporters are encouraged to contribute whatever they can manage, as every penny directly impacts patient care services. For more information and to get involved, please visit https://just-helping.org.uk/register-tree/
