New affordable homes are now ready for people to move in after a developer began handing them over to a Midland’s based housing association.
Platform Housing Group, who manage nearly 50,000 homes across the region, have begun accepting the new properties from developer Lovell Partnerships at the Cookley Works site near Dudley.
In total, the group will manage 71 homes on the development which sits on regenerated brownfield land. They will be available for affordable rent and shared ownership.
Platform Project Manager Claire Cooper was on hand to look around the finished units with Simon Wingate, Regional Partnerships Director at Lovell, ahead of the official handover.
Claire commented: “It’s great to see the new homes and have them at a stage where they are ready for their new residents. We’re very proud of this site and what it means to the local area in providing places that people can call home.”
Simon said: “Reaching this milestone at Cookley Works reflects the significant progress of the region’s brownfield-first policy, which involves us working alongside the WMCA and its partners to unlock stalled brownfield sites and meet the growing housing demand. It’s fantastic to see the first affordable homes handed over to Platform Housing residents so they can begin settling in and adding life to this new community.”
