In November Platform Housing Group lead the very first UK Occupational Health and Safety in Social Housing Conference, as part of a partnership working initiative.
The event brought together health and safety professionals from across the housing sector to highlight the importance of occupational employee health and safety and to explore ways to help shape and improve strategy insuring employee safety is key. There were breakout sessions that gave attendees focus groups to really delve deeper into topics such as embedding a safety culture, sharing best practice and using data to drive change.
The event was put together by not only Platform Housing Group but also teams from Sovereign Housing, The Guinness Partnership, LiveWest, Vivid, L&Q and Paradigm all of whom share a common goal to highlight the employee safety within housing, alongside the customer.
Kevin Hill, Head of Health and Safety for Platform Housing said: “Our customers safety is important, but we realised that there were no health and safety events in the UK that solely looked at the employee, who to us is just as important. Alongside our partners we’ve been able to bring together health and safety teams from across the sector to really delve into employee safety.”
Kevin went on to add: “I think the conference was a step in the right direction and a real stepping stone. It’s been great collaborating on this event, and we hope to support more in the future.”
