Onward Homes has appointed Novus Property Solutions to deliver energy efficiency improvements to a number of homes in Merseyside to make them warmer, quieter and more comfortable for customers.
The contract will see Novus’ expert team carry out sustainable improvements to 400 homes in the Kirkdale and County & Warbreck area of Liverpool. This will include the installation of wall insulation systems and loft insulation, as well as window and door replacements, and underfloor insulation, in order to upgrade the properties to an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C rating.
The partnership is part of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave 2.1 scheme. Onward secured £4.48m for the project as part of the Liverpool City Region’s bid into the scheme and will match fund the project with £10.86m. In total, an estimated £15.3m will be invested into the homes.
As part of the contract, Novus will donate £100,000 in social value to the local area. Novus will undertake various activities to support the local community during the programme of works. To kick-start the partnership, Novus are donating 50 Christmas hampers to local families to support them through the Winter and will be gifting 10 slow cookers to Everton in the Community’s latest project to teach local residents how to prepare and cook healthy meals.
James Hill, Director of Property at Onward said: “We identified that a number of homes in our Kirkdale neighbourhood required improvements to enhance their overall energy efficiency. The funding secured through the SDHF will enable us to deliver a programme of work that will result in more comfortable, warmer and sustainable homes for our customers.
“We are committed to providing sustainable homes for all our customers and this project will allow us to build on the momentum of our existing retrofit programme. We look forward to continued engagement with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and our customers as we begin to deliver this work with Novus in the New Year.”
John Dale, Head of Operations at Novus Property Solutions added: “We’re delighted to have secured this contract with Onward, which shares our vision for a more sustainable housing sector. Being awarded this significant contract with a vast scope of work demonstrates Novus’ increasing reputation as a leading contractor in decarbonisation retrofit services.”
