Helix Group announces the launch of its new housebuilding and development business, Helix Partnership Homes.
Charlie Scherer, Helix Group’s Non-Executive Director, and experienced house building and regeneration professional will now move into an Executive role on the Group Board, taking ultimate responsibility for Helix Partnership Homes. The company is Helix’s response to the Government call for SMEs to provide more homes and increase the supply of sustainable affordable and private housing on smaller and medium-sized developments.
Helix Partnership Homes’ first land led development will be in partnership with Homes England and Cottsway Housing Association for 15 new homes in Moreton in the Marsh. This development in the Cotswolds is one of four new sites comprising 40 homes for sale and rent that Helix have been managing through the planning system, with all homes expected to commence on site this year. The company anticipates the completion of 60 new homes by 2024, with a further land pipeline of over 100 new homes currently in negotiation.
Charlie Scherer (pictured above) said: “Through our pre-existing construct and management contracting divisions, we have seen that there is a chronic undersupply of good SME builders for small and medium size developments. We hope to be able to close that gap across the South and West of England, working in partnership with land-owners and housing associations.
“Helix’s track record has certainly helped build confidence with these stakeholders and we are thrilled to be working across a number of smaller developments so early in our journey. It is our ambition that all homes being built shall meet with the Future Homes Standard from day 1, using both a suite of small family house-types developed with Hester Architects as well as bespoke larger family homes.”
Nic Davies, Managing Director at Helix Group, commented: “When we launched Helix five years ago, working with our partners to develop our own homes was a central part of our longer-term plan and we are now really pleased to have joined forces with Charlie to form Helix Partnership Homes.”
