A community of 49 affordable rent and shared ownership homes has finished construction in Powick, ready for residents to move in. The £7.5m housing scheme was delivered for local housing association, Platform Housing Group, by national contractor, Seddon.
Located on Winsmore, the development provides a mixture of housing types, including six bungalows, eight apartments, 12 semi-detached, four detached houses and 19 terraced properties.
Several of the two and three-bedroom homes available for shared ownership have been fitted with roof-mounted solar PV panels to provide greener, more low-cost energy for residents.
The shared ownership homes benefit from modern, fitted kitchens and bathrooms; downstairs WCs; parking for two vehicles and an enclosed rear garden, including turfed lawn and shed. All affordable rent properties on the site are finished to the same high specification, internally and externally.
The project was constructed over 21 months from July 2019.

The site is located off the Malvern Road (A449) and was designated greenfield land with residential properties adjacent to two sides of the site boundary. The development team comprised Worcester-based, Zebra Architects; Patrick Parson structural engineers, and local subcontractors, which provided apprentice opportunities for young people through the supply chain.
