Newly-built properties have been handed over to Muir Group Housing Association after developments in Chester and Leicestershire were completed.
The final phases of schemes in Cheshire and Leicestershire came to fruition in January, providing new affordable housing and shared ownership deals for Muir residents. Muir also received the keys to a number of new homes on other sites as the association ramps up its commitment to the provision of affordable homes, following its promise to deliver up to 75% more in future years.
Muir’s Interim Assistant Director of Assets and Growth, Jo Fallon, said: “The completion of these new homes marks a fantastic start to 2018 for Muir Group Housing Association and people in these communities who will benefit from having more affordable housing.
“It’s wonderful for Muir to be providing these properties and the opportunities they bring for people and families.
“These properties are the result of so much hard work by so many people at Muir and we look forward to seeing many more developments beginning to take shape, and completing, in 2018.”
Phase Four of Muir’s Fern Hill scheme in Farndon, Cheshire, saw two properties for affordable rent and one shared ownership home completed — bringing the total of two- and three-bedroom homes for affordable rent to seven, along with eight similar shared ownership opportunities.
Executive Director of Operations at Muir, Sam Scott said: “The completion of these developments underline Muir’s continued commitment to affordable housing and the social housing sector.
“We also look forward to announcing a number of exciting new developments as we uphold our promise to deliver up to 75% more new homes for people seeking affordable options.”
The three affordable rent properties completed at Scalford Road in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, complement a total of 13 such two- and three-bedroom homes, as well as four one-bedroom apartments. They all arrived as the paint dried on a further three shared ownership homes at Winterley Gardens, near Sandbach — with five two- and three-bedroom properties also on the way for affordable rent.
The developments follow the six apartments and one maisonette which delivered affordable housing to people in Northwich towards the end of last year.
