Chester based housing association, Muir Group, has relaunched its shared ownership arm as part of its target to build circa 500 new homes over the next five years.
Muir Group, which owns and manages over 5,500 homes across the country, has launched Homes by Muir to build and expand on its existing shared ownership offer, helping more local people to take their first steps into home ownership. To mark the launch, Muir has announced a number of new homes available for shared ownership in both Willaston and Leftwich in Cheshire which will be available to move into early next year.
More shared ownership homes are already planned for Upton, Kelsall, Ellesmere Port and Winsford in Cheshire as well as in Bourne in South Lincolnshire. The move is part of Muir’s aim to play its part in tackling the housing crisis and providing much needed new and affordable homes across a range of tenures.
Helen Williams, Muir’s Shared Ownership Manager who joined the Group in 2020 to develop its shared ownership offer, said: “We’re delighted to launch Homes by Muir, which is a key way in which we aim to deliver on our ambitious development programme to build much needed affordable homes.
“Through Homes by Muir, we want to raise awareness of shared ownership as an important route into home ownership. This can be a really great way to get a foot on the housing ladder in a more affordable way, something which can feel out of reach for many, particularly in areas where Muir works where prices can be higher. We’re delighted as part of the launch to promote the new homes available at Willaston and Letwich and we’re looking forward to announcing more homes in our shared ownership portfolio coming soon.”
Alex Fury, Assistant Director of Assets and Growth at Muir, added: “Shared ownership is a significant part of our development programme for the future. Working in partnership with Homes England, we are committed to building new homes across a range of tenures to meet local needs, and the launch of Homes by Muir will help us to broaden our offer and enable more people to take their first steps into home ownership. In particular, it comes at an important time in response to the Government’s new Right to Shared Ownership model outlined in the White Paper, which will be an important step in enabling more tenants into home ownership.”
