Morgan Sindall Construction’s Eastern Counties business has been selected for Norfolk County Council’s (NCC) Major Construction Works Framework.
The latest iteration of the framework will help meet ongoing requirements for construction work and will run for an initial three-year term from 1st April 2024. The previous framework arrangements expired in September 2023.
The framework is divided into three lots and Morgan Sindall has been appointed to Lot 2, which is for larger, more complex projects including a mix of refurbishments, remodelling and new-build. Works under Lot 2 will have a value of more than £4.5m and the total value of all projects in this lot over the term is estimated at £300m.
Morgan Sindall has an established presence in the county and is currently working on multiple projects across the region. This includes collaborating with Norfolk County Council on the comprehensive restoration of Norwich Castle, which is due to open later this year.
Other key developments the tier one contractor is working on in Norfolk include a £17m regeneration at Great Yarmouth’s Market Place. This project with Great Yarmouth Borough Council will turn the town’s former Palmers department store into a new public library and university learning centre called The Place.
Morgan Sindall is also delivering a new £25m state-of-the-art Community Diagnostic Centre with the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) near to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Morgan Sindall’s Eastern Counties Area Director, Alister Broadberry, said: “We have worked alongside Norfolk County Council for a number of years on a variety of projects, and to be selected on this framework represents a fantastic opportunity to continue our strong, collaborative relationship.
“Supporting the council with its construction and regeneration requirements has been especially rewarding, as I know that we share many key values when it comes to creating high-quality, sustainable facilities that generate social value for the local area. This is a core aspect of our previous and ongoing projects and we’re delighted to be further assisting the council, its constituents, communities and the wider local economy moving forward.”
Warren Salmons, Morgan Sindall’s Eastern Counties Framework Manager, commented: “Our appointment to Norfolk County Council’s (NCC) Major Construction Works Framework is testament to the hard work carried out by the entire team. Going onto the new framework, we look forward to collaborating with the integrated property solutions consultants Norse Consulting and working alongside the council to ensure that they can best fulfil their built environment goals.”
