Made Tech appointed by Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to support the delivery of digital planning

Made Tech has been appointed by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) to support the delivery of digital planning reform.

The Government is taking forward a digital-first approach to modernising the planning process to deliver great homes and connected communities. This approach to digitalisation will touch all parts of planning. From verifying that local planning authorities use digital tools
to support a new civic engagement process for local plans. To ensure that local plans are built on standardised, digitally consumable rules and data. As well as delivering accessible interactive maps that show what can be built, and where.

The programme has now started, with Made Tech in place to help the department deliver the digital elements of the planning reform. This includes creating data standards and tools that enable planning rules to be set as data, co-creating modern data-driven planning software
with councils and the market and digital engagement with citizens to bolster the PropTech engagement sector.

Glen Ocskó, Head of Local Government, Made Tech said: “We’ve been thrilled to support DLUHC and its predecessor MHCLG with some complex digital programmes over the years. Our work delivering the new digital service to replace the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) register was a watershed moment for MHCLG. For the first time it brought the running of a digital service back in-house and with our support redeveloped it from the ground up. We’re looking forward to repeating the success of these past projects alongside DLUHC to deliver citizens and local government with a planning system fit for the 21st Century.”

Milan Bogunovic, Deputy Director, Digital Delivery, Planning Reform, Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities commented: “We’re really excited to be partnering with Made Tech and bringing in its specialists to help the DLUHC team to deliver a digital first approach
to planning.”
