London Borough of Waltham Forest has appointed leading contractor Thomas Sinden to deliver a part three, four and five storey mixed use building. The scheme comprises 167 sqm flexible commercial unit at ground level, 19 apartments, of which 50 percent will be affordable at land to the rear of Grade II listed Central Parade, together with associated external works, services, drainage and adaptions to highway access.
The project also sees the relocation and incorporation of an existing substation within the proposed development and the conversion of part of south western corner of Central Parade to provide two further dwellings.
Central Parade is an important building both in townscape and heritage terms, the buildings distinctive wave canopy and clock tower make it a local landmark. The ceramic tiles on the clock tower, many of which show heraldic shields that have strong links with the borough, are a key reason why the building has a Grade II Listing.
