Property services company Liberty Group has secured four new contract wins worth nearly £6m across the South-east, East Midlands and Yorkshire, which includes a project with Vital Energi and Leeds City Council to refurbish an existing district heating plant room and build a new one to supply heat and hot water to 26 tower blocks in the city.
Liberty Group specialises in the full range of property services including reactive and planned maintenance across all technical disciplines, refurbishments, mechanical and electrical projects, construction and renewable energy.
In Yorkshire, Liberty is working in partnership with Vital Energi to support the £35m Leeds PIPES project being delivered by Vital Energi and Leeds City Council to refurbish one district heating plant room and build a second, new plant room, to supply heat and hot water to 26 tower blocks in the city.
The new heating network has received £4m funding from West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) through the Leeds City Region Growth Deal. An additional £5.8m of European Regional Development Funding has been received to assist to connect 1,080 council homes in the Lincoln Green and Ebor Gardens area.
This project will support the council in reducing heating bills by up to 25% for over 1,400 households in Leeds, helping to tackle fuel poverty in the city and reduce carbon emissions. As part of this project Liberty will deliver works valued at £3m, including infrastructure works and new heating system installations.
A new contract with emh homes, worth £2m, will see the firm deliver gas services to 5,400 homes, ensuring the safety and efficiency of heating systems for the housing provider’s tenants. The contract will run for a minimum of four years and will include gas servicing, maintenance and new heating installations. The partnership aims to support Liberty’s growing presence in the Midlands and deliver local employment and apprenticeship opportunities as part of its commitment to improving lives in local communities.
Liberty has also secured contracts totalling £800,000 with E.ON, on behalf of Riverside to deliver a total of 129 new heating installations in the South-east and 175 in Plymouth, which form part of the Government’s Warm Homes Fund to support affordable heating and tackle fuel poverty.
