Social housing provider LACE Housing has been given the green light to build 82 specialist homes for older people in Ingham, Nettleham and Washingborough.
The Government’s Homes and Communities Agency has approved a £2.6m bid for the developments as part of its Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme, which aims to increase the supply of a wide range of housing options to older people in England by March 2021.
Lincoln-based LACE Housing is working in partnership with West Lindsey and North Kesteven District Councils to create a mixture of rented and shared ownership properties for which, subject to planning approval, building work is anticipated to begin in the summer.
The building programme will include 12 one and two-bedroom apartments in Ingham, 14 two-bedroom bungalows and 26 two-bedroom apartments in Nettleham and eight two-bedroom bungalows and 22 two-bedroom apartments in Washingborough.
Nick Chambers (pictured above looking over another building programme currently under way in Skegness), chief executive of LACE Housing, said: “I’m really pleased that we’ve secured this funding. Providing accommodation and support services for the older members of our communities is at the heart of what LACE Housing does.
“I’m delighted that we’ll be able to offer a great range of accommodation options to many more people in the Ingham, Nettleham and Washingborough areas in the years to come.”
Applications for planning are currently under way and it is estimated that the new housing will be available to residents from the end of 2018.
LACE Housing provides housing with extra care for older people with high support and personal care needs and sheltered accommodation for those who want to retain more independence. It is the leading social housing provider in Lincolnshire specialising in a wide range of housing and support services.
The organisation is a member of the Lincs Independent Living Partnership currently delivering the Lincolnshire Wellbeing Service, which includes personal support, simple aids, minor home adaptations, telecare services and rapid response services.
