JV North appoints contractors and consultants to £500m social housebuilding framework

Social housebuilding consortium, JV North, has announced the contractors and consultants appointed to its £500m framework.

JV North has 14 housing association members across the North West and procured the framework in January. Successful companies will help JV North build in the region of 3,000 homes over the next four years with call offs starting in early August. Three construction lots were offered ranging from upwards to £4m, £4m to £12m and £12m and over.

Contractors appointed to the upwards to £4m category are: GK Construction & Project Management, J Greenwood (Builders) Ltd, John Southworth Builders Ltd, M&Y Maintenance and Construction Ltd, McCaul Build Ltd, PLP Construction Ltd, RP Tyson Construction Ltd, The Casey Group, Westshield Ltd and Whitfield and Brown (Developments) Ltd.

In the £4m to £12m category GK Construction and Project Management, J Greenwood (Builders) Ltd, John Southworth Builders Limited, M&Y Maintenance and Construction Ltd, PLP Construction Limited, Rowlinson, RP Tyson Construction Ltd, Seddon Construction Limited, The Casey Group, Vistry Partnerships, Watson Construction Ltd and Whitfield and Brown (Developments) Ltd were selected.

Builders Breck Homes, Eric Wright Construction Ltd, Rowlinson, Seddon Construction Ltd, Termrim Construction Ltd, Vistry Partnerships and Watson Construction Ltd were chosen for the £12m and over lot.

Architectural services, employers agents, purchaser agents, engineers, clerks of works, principal designers and principal designers for Building Regulations lots were also procured.

Arcus Consulting LLP, Bowker Sadler Partnership, BTP Architects, Buttress Architects, Halsall Lloyd LLP, Jennings Design Associates, John McCall Architects, Levitt Bernstein Associates Ltd, Pozzoni Architecture and Studio KMA Ltd were appointed to the architectural services lot.

10 employers agents were appointed: Arcus Consulting LLP, CPC Project Services LLP, Drees & Sommer, Gateley PLC, Identity Consult, Markhams, Neo Projects Ltd, Poole Dick Associates, WhiteleyEaves Ltd and Wilkinson Cowan Partnership Ltd.

Purchaser agents Arcus Consulting LLP, CPC Project Services LLP, Drees & Sommer, Neo Projects Limited, Tetra Tech Ltd and Wilkinson Cowan Partnership Ltd were chosen.

In the engineering services category, six were successful: Alan Johnston Partnership Ltd, Curtins Consulting Ltd, HBL Associates, Rodgers Leask Limited, Shape Consulting Engineers and Sutcliffe Projects Ltd.

Six clerks of work were appointed: Amrin Resources Ltd, Markhams, Michael Dyson Associates Ltd, WhiteleyEaves Ltd, Wilkinson Cowan Partnership Ltd and WSP UK Ltd.

The lot for principal designers saw eight companies added to the framework: Airey Miller Ltd, Anderton Gables Ltd, Arcus Consulting LLP, Keelagher Okey Associates Ltd, Markhams, Poole Dick Associates, Vista Consulting Group Ltd and Wilkinson Cowan Partnership Ltd.

In a first for JV North, principal designers for Building Regulations were also procured with the following chosen: Airey Miller Ltd, Arcus Consulting LLP, Baily Garner, Bowker Sadler Partnership Ltd, BTP Architects, John McCall Architects, Kartar Consulting, Keelagher Okey Associates Ltd and Vista Consulting Group Limited.

JV North Chair, John Bowker, said: “Consultants and contractors play an intrinsic part in our success as a consortium, having helped us build over 10,000 homes since forming.

“So we are really pleased with the quality and quantity of tenders received in what is our fourth framework and would like to thank everyone who applied. Competition was fierce with lots heavily oversubscribed.

“JV North is built on the strong foundation of partnership working returning better outcomes and this is certainly the case with our framework where contractors and consultants will help us build 3,000 homes at pace to meet the growing demand for housing across the North West.”

Saffer Cooper Consultancy, which manages JV North’s development programme, led the framework with support from consortium member Plus Dane Housing’s procurement team and were assisted by international law firm Trowers & Hamlins.

Consortium members are Cobalt Housing, Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing Trust, L&Q Housing Trust, Muir Group Housing Association, One Manchester, Plus Dane Housing, South Liverpool Homes, Southway Housing Trust, Stockport Homes Group, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, The Sovini Group, Torus, Weaver Vale Housing Trust and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group.
