Lincolnshire home-hunters who would otherwise have been unable to step on the property ladder have been able to do so — thanks to the affordable homes built at Chestnut Homes’ LN6 development in Lincoln.
The Lincolnshire-based housebuilder has provided six homes for shared ownership within the fourth and final phase of the Westbrooke Road development — and these are all now completed and occupied by their new residents.
The affordable homes were sold quickly off plan, after being released for sale in August by housing association Longhurst Group.
Chestnut Homes’ Land and Development Manager, Rebecca Archer, said: “Since work started on our final selection of homes at LN6 in January 2020 we have seen consistently high demand for both private and affordable homes at the site.
“We’d like to thank all of our staff and delivery partners, who have worked extremely hard under very difficult circumstances, to safely deliver these vital new affordable homes to Lincoln in a quick and timely manner to meet the demand at the site.
“Chestnut Homes is proud to be working in partnership with Longhurst Group, and we very much look forward to expanding our partnership over the coming years, continuing to provide the new affordable homes required throughout Lincolnshire.”
The fourth and final phase of LN6 consists of 24 homes, six of which were secured as affordable housing through planning permission for the site.
Chestnut Homes has been building in Lincolnshire for over 30 years and has provided 131 new homes, including a total of 29 affordable properties, at LN6 since construction work started on the site in 2015.
Delivered in conjunction with Longhurst Group, these homes have been made available to local people for rent or shared ownership, offering alternative affordable housing at the Westbrooke Road development.
Marcus Keys, Executive Director of Growth and Development at Longhurst Group, said: “We’re committed to providing the kind of homes people need, where they are needed most and this is a fantastic example of how we work with our partners to do just that.
“Affordable housing like this is sorely-needed in the area and so we’re delighted to see that these eagerly-anticipated homes are all already occupied by new residents.
“It’s been a pleasure to work alongside Chestnut Homes across all four phases of this fantastic scheme, working together to deliver a total of 29 affordable homes. We look forward to continuing our partnership to deliver even more of the affordable housing that Lincolnshire needs.”
