Leading regeneration specialist Vistry Partnerships has been given the go-ahead by Nuneaton and Bedworth Council and the land owners for the construction of 204 homes on the former Hawkesbury Golf Course.
Following the Council’s decision to approve the development, Vistry Partnerships completed a deal to purchase the land.
Once complete, the Hawkesbury project will bring much-needed affordable housing to the area. Nearly half of the homes built onsite will be available as affordable housing through housing association Platform Housing Group together with 103 homes for sale on the open market. Alongside the new homes, there will also be a community building to encourage social interaction, as well as allotments, orchards and even a BMX track.
Vistry Partnership’s Pre-Construction Director for East Midlands, Greg Wood, commented: “As regeneration specialists, we are delighted to receive the green light on our ambitious Hawkesbury project. However, our vision for this development is about much more than bricks and mortar — it is about creating a new community that stimulates social interaction and helps people onto the property ladder. We can’t wait to get underway on site.”
The £42m development, situated close to Hawkesbury Canal Junction, will include a mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached homes containing a mix of two-, three- and four-bedrooms, there will also be a small number of one- and two-bedroom maisonettes.
Half of the 101 affordable units will be available through shared ownership with the remaining 50% of homes available for affordable rent.

Funding for the scheme is being provided by Homes England through their Affordable Homes Programme and we at Platform are looking forward to providing more homes right across the midlands that make a difference to people’s lives.”
Now that the development has been given the go-ahead, Vistry Partnerships will look to start work onsite as soon as possible. The entire project is anticipated to be completed by 2024.
